Meadow Symphony: Blocky Blooms

Designed in collaboration with the Australian bed-linen company, Linen House, this contemporary collection combines linoprinting, watercolour and digital techniques to create a series of beautiful bed-linen designed for the S/S 2024-25. Symphony Meadows: Blocky Blooms, embodies the harmony between geometric and soft design translating quiet suburban floral beauty into modern interior textiles.

Collection Ideation

This bed linen collection was apart of a partial collaborative project with the Australian bed linen company Linen House. As apart of my degree I had the opportunity to design a spring/summer collection gaining industry feedback from a small Australian business.

Analysing the Australian market and upcoming fashion and textile trends, I visited many linen stores including, Adairs, Bed Bath n' Table and Sheridan. I also digitally analysed the market trends through WGSN, interior décor trends and Pantone colour palettes.

Seeing as Linen House uses predominantly hand made motifs in their main collection and have a penchant for unique trims and finishes I wanted to use my -at the time- more limited set of hand-made techniques to create a beautiful and vibrant series with florals I see in my neighbourhood. Creating a more meaningful connection with my work.

I began my creative process by hand carving and printing some different florals and foliage I noticed in my neighbours backyards, including Spanish bluebells, wisteria, thick leaves and sprawling stems. I made sure to keep all of my florals in the same more geometric style and added in star motifs to each flower as I grew quite fond of the star-shaped Spanish bluebell petals.

I then began to play around and create my aesthetic and colours. Using Pantone and Adobe themes as inspiration I spent many hours creating this finalised colour palette (right) which is displayed in my collections selected fabric -slubbed cotton.

Once I had all of my motifs and colour palette, I began playing around with composition using spot repeat and full drop designs to create the final two bed linen collections.
